Welcome!

We are so glad that you are interested in our Beginner Obedience Training Class at Calling All Dogs!  Once enrolled in class, you will be given access to the rest of this site.  This is where you will find videos and step-by-step information to help you and your dog learn as you go through the course.

Before the first class, we wanted to provide you with some information on what to bring and expect:

-The first class is very exciting so do not be surprised if your dog has some trouble focusing on you, this is normal!  This will be in a new and distracting environment.  If it does seem to be too much for your dog, we will schedule a private lesson.

-We will be teaching you foundation behaviors which we continually build on throughout

the 6 week course.  It is very important to practice at home.  A few sessions a day that

add up to 15 minutes is great!  We also recommend incorporating training into your daily

activities, such as meal time and going potty outside.  Click on the links to access the

sample homework training log as well as a blank copy for yourself.

-Click on the link to find information about clicker training.  You do not have to use a

clicker during the course but we have found that dogs learn much faster when they

are used.  You can purchase a clicker at our facility on 8 Wade Ave.

-We will also be teaching your dog to relax on their mat.  This is a wonderful skill to have

for many reasons.  Click on the link called "Relax On Mat" to get the step by step guide on

how to do this.  We will be teaching this in class but it is helpful if your dog has already been

introduced to the mat in a quiet setting at home.

-This is a beginner class but it is very helpful if your dog already knows how to sit on cue.  Below you will find a video on how to teach your dog to do this.

-We always want to create a positive experience for dogs and therefore we do not allow choke chains, shock collars or prong collars in class.  We also require that the dogs do not meet each other while on leash.  Below is a list of items that you might like to bring with you.

  • Variety of treats, the more the better! Treats that normally work at home will often not be rewarding enough in a high distraction environment.  Don't feed your dog a large meal before coming to class.

  • Treat bag

  • Nylon or leather leash

  • Nylon/leather collar and/or harness

  • Clicker

  • Thin bed or blanket

  • Proof of Rabies and DHPP vaccinations (required for the first class)

-If your dog shows any sign of illness or parasites, please contact us or your vet before bringing him/her to class.

If you would like to enroll in the class, a non-refundable payment is required.  Once Enrollment is complete, follow these instructions to gain access to the rest of the training site:
